Acrobatic Gymnastics is a discipline that requires courage and stamina, while demanding flexibility and skill. Exercises are accompanied with music, harmoniously in keeping with gymnasts’ choreography, body movements & musical creativity.
Body movements include balance skills that demonstrate strength, balance, flexibility and agility and dynamic skills that demonstrate flight from throws, boosts, pitches and flight before catches. Skills should be both on the ground and in the air. Individual acrobatic elements are also required and must be in perfect synchronization. The time allowed for each exercise is 2:30 and is performed on a sprung floor area measuring 12 x 12 meters.
Acrobatics is practiced as Men’s, Women’s or Mixed Pairs, as Women’s Groups (3 gymnasts) or as Men’s Groups (4 gymnasts).
