Become a Coach

Every athlete needs a coach!  And a GOOD coach provides tremendous value by encouraging participants of all ages to be active, to challenge themselves, and to have fun. In fact, coaching offers enormous benefits for coaches and participants alike.

East York is proud of their coaching staff who are known for creating a positive and motivating environment that focuses on quality instruction and having fun!  If you would like to be a part of our team, EYGC offers a free “coach-in-training” (CIT) program for prospective coaches ages 14 yrs and up.

The EYGC CIT program provides a platform to give potential new coaches the proper training to become a certified coach with EYGC and work toward certifications offered by the National Coaching Certification Programs (NCCP). CIT’s will be registered members of Gymnastics Ontario.

Guided by our Recreational Director, CIT’s will work alongside our supervisors and senior coaching staff and will take part in specific clinics including spotting technique, class management and specialized “teaching classes”. The process is enriching and enjoyable and hours can be used to fulfill high school volunteer requirements.  Interested participants should be available for a minimum of one weekday evening or one weekend day shift and have some flexibility to attend clinics. If interested in joining our team, please complete this form.
