Advanced Classes – Girls
The Women’s Artistic Gymnastic (WAG) Program at EYGC is robust and we train students for many levels of competitive gymnastics; Regional, Provincial and Elite levels of gymnastics (National, International and World class level).
To identify young athletes that have the right attributes to manage the physical and mental demands of the sport, as well as the commitment and drive to reach the top levels, EYGC has created a Talent Identification Program called “Mighty Mites”.
Within this fundamental learning program, the Mighty Mite athletes will begin their education on the four events of girl’s gymnastics – Vault, Bars, Beam and Floor and will be taught in the areas of flexibility, strength, coordination, focus, balance, agility, body awareness, alignment, and basic body positioning.
Our structured classes are designed to be fun and enjoyable for the girls but will also teach them sportsmanship, work ethics and discipline. Regardless of a possible advancement in our program, the tools with which they master here will help them excel in any future athletic endeavours as gymnastics is the basis of all sports.
If chosen for a Mighty Mite team, please be aware this does not guarantee a spot on our competitive team, only the opportunity for us to work with your daughter to foster and develop the physical, technical, and emotional skills necessary for a competitive program.
4, 6 or 9 hrs per week, by test or invitation only. Competitive and non-competitive.
For additional information please contact mightymites@eastyorkgym.com.
The Girls Performance classes are advanced recreational gymnastics where students learn routines and follow a set curriculum in line with Gymnastics Ontario’s Xcel program. This is a non-competitive program, by test or invitation only. 3 hrs per week.
For additional information please contact GirlsPT@eastyorkgym.com.
The Girls Performance Teams are our beginner level competitive gymnastic program. Students learn routines on all four events and follow a set curriculum in line with Gymnastics Ontario’s Xcel* program. Teams train 6 or 9 hrs per week, which offers a wonderful balance of gymnastics and time for family or other extra circular activities.
* Xcel Program is a set of rules and requirements for competition and is designed to offer a broad based, affordable competitive stream to attract and retain a diverse group of gymnasts.
This program is by test or invitation only.
